Challenge
Industrial products and equipment often have complex specifications, varied units, and non-standard naming conventions. Suppliers may upload product data in different formats, leading to inconsistency in:
・Product names, SKUs, descriptions
・Units of measure
・Certifications or compliance info
・Images and documentation
・Pricing models (bulk, tiered, quote-based)
This lack of data standardization makes product search, comparison, and decision-making difficult for buyers — defeating one of the platform’s core value propositions.
Solution
Product Information Management (PIM) System:
・Create a centralized system where suppliers upload product data using predefined templates.
・Enforce data validation rules to ensure consistent attributes across categories.
・Support bulk import tools (CSV, Excel, or API-based) with real-time error feedback.
Data Normalization & Mapping:
・Implement AI-assisted data mapping tools to translate supplier-specific fields into standardized categories (e.g., “Voltage” vs “Input Voltage”).
・Use unit conversion logic to normalize entries (e.g., cm ↔ mm, kg ↔ lb).
Enhanced Search & Comparison UI:
・Enable attribute-level filtering and side-by-side comparisons based on normalized specs.
